I just renewed this domain for 2 more years -- so I may as well get some use out of it! I have so many photos of Mae, I could probably put up a dozen a day for the rest of her life. It's raining today, which means we have to stay in together. Right now Mae is playing with her toys while an Elmo movie plays in the background -- shocking I know. It's suppose to rain for the next few days - so I'll have to come up with things for us to do. Maybe I can re-program Elmo to send subliminal messages to Mae - suggesting LONG naps!

I'm hoping to fire this blog up again - I've just been so busy -- but I've been taking plenty of photos... After every bath - Mae loves to stand in front of the mirror to admire herself - let's see how she feels about it when she's 50 :-)

I haven't posted in awhile - but here are the two girls. They grow closer each day. Mae has learned to say LEAH! pretty well - in fact, it's her best word - I think the word DOG is her second best. It's funny to see her following her big sister around calling out her name.

I've been really busy trying to nail down a schedule with Mae. Being a stay-at-home dad has its challenges - especially when she's been sick for almost two weeks. Today is the first day she seems to be herself, but her sleep pattern has changed a bit. It use to be that she'd go down for her nap around 10AM - now, she wants her snack around that time - then play with dad (today it was 'let's figure out how to use the flash unit dad's had sitting around forever' - I think we got it!) -- and then have another bottle (BaBa) - and off for her nap around 11:30ish. I suppose the good thing is if she sleeps for a few hours I'll have time to eat lunch and maybe catch up on a bit of reading or scanning or whatever... I think I sort of like hanging out with her...

Alison goes back to work on Monday. She's apprehensive, and that's natural. I know she's going to miss being with Mae more than anything. If I could, I'd go back to work instead - but I'm still working on my permanent resident status, and can't do anything until that comes about. Still - this is good for me - and probably good for Alison. I know she'd go crazy staying home with Mae while I was at work -- and I've never experienced what it's like to be in charge of a household. I'm about to find out. I'm equally apprehensive. I have very little prior experience, and I'm not sure about my skill sets. One thing I do know - I can't move Mae to another organization - or fire her - or just leave her out to fend for herself. We're in this together -- not just Mae and me -- but our whole family. Everyone has to do their part to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. It's a little unnerving for me not to be the bread winner - especially during the economic free fall we seem to be in - but the change of job description has given me knew focus -- new determination - to be good at something I never was really good at - taking care of my child. I'm hoping my first performance review is a good one.

Yes, it's pretentious -- but it's one hell of a nice ride for Mae -- I got the super cushy sleeping bag thingy so we can go on nice long winter walks together...
